A rare early issue (#370, the second of the ninth year) from the Soviet-era feminist Georgian periodical for women. Founded as a monthly socio-political and artistic-literary magazine, it was published under the auspices of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Georgia. One of 10000 copies. The periodical was first published in September 1923 in Tbilisi under the name Chveni Gza [i.e., Our Way]. Renamed in 1926, this feminist publication ceased operations in 1939. It was revived in July 1957 under the title Soviet Woman.
The magazine’s first organizers included L. Gasviani, V. Japaridze, M. Orakhelashvili, N. Charkviani, F. Gegeshidze, S. Talakvadze, along with F. Makharadze and M. Tskhakaia. From 1957 to 1964, T. Abashmadze served as editor, and in July 1961, the magazine was rebranded as Woman of Georgia. In 1965, Marika Baratashvili took over as editor. Between July and December 1990, the periodical was published under the name Mandili, before being ultimately discontinued in 2007.
As of December, we couldn’t any issues in OCLC.
