The first edition of this novel by Kalandia, which narrates the gripping drama of a blood feud re-emerging after a thousand years within a tribe in a small South Caucasus town. The story was later adapted into a drama by renowned Georgian director Geno Chiradze (19422004) in 1990.

Zaur Kalandia was born in Abkhazia and has lived in Tbilisi since 1976 and is the editor of Ritsa magazine. His first stories were published in Nobati magazine in 1977. Kalandia is the author of the novels Zvarak, Moment in the Desert, and Monument for All. Several prose books by him have been published, and full-length feature films have been made based on the novel Zvarak and its scripts. (Teleqraf online).
