The French edition on Samaritan literature, published as a supplement to the Encyclopædia of Islam (EI), was authored by a Romanian-born scholar who later became British. He served as Hakham of the Spanish and Portuguese Jewish congregation in London and was a linguist specializing in Hebrew and Romanian.
