Original burgundy imitation leather bdg. (33×35 cm). Captions in Turkish. 43 b/w photos in various sizes, [20] card stock leaves, the captions in blue ink on the lower of photos, and album papers. Contains 23 photos of 18×12 cm, 11 pieces of 18×23(24) cm, 3 pieces of 10.5×8 cm, 1 x 8×9 cm, 3 x 9×14 cm, 2 photos in various sizes.

A historically important photo album including 43 b/w photos in various sizes, of Nuriye Pinar (1914-2006), who was the first female seismologist and geologist of the world from Turkey. She was the only participant from Turkey in the First World Conference on Earthquake Engineering held in Berkeley in 1956 marking the 50th anniversary of the San Francisco earthquake had been Pinar, professor of geology.

The album includes two important and rare photos taken after the Eskisehir Earthquake in 1956 showing the visit of Pinar and other Democrat Party members to the earthquake zone. Additionally, the photos show Pinar's speeches when he was a member of the democratic party between 1953-1955, his country tours (party congresses, open-air speech in Menemen (Izmir), group photos with Celal Bayar and Adnan Menderes, views from Hatay, Cumaovasi, Kemalpasa, Zübeyde Hanim's -mother of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk- tomb in Izmir while she leaves flowers to the tomb, the opening of the Sariyar Dam, elections, balls in Izmir, on the Aegean ferry, etc., two photographs taken at the 1954 Çanakkale Congress and the Aegean ferry are missing in the album, but, captions are written on the blank pages. The last photograph shows the women's group, including Nezihe Muhiddin [Tepedelenligil] (1889-1958) who was the leader of the Turkish women's suffrage movement, at the Women's Union of Turkey [Türk Kadin Birligi] ball held on March 26, 1955.

Pinar, who said, "There will not be another earthquake in Istanbul for 100 years," right after the 1999 Earthquake, was the first specialist who prepared the first earthquake catalogue of Turkey with German engineer Dr. Erwin Lahn. Between 1937-1942, she attended the Alpine Tectonics, Stratigraphy, and Paleontology courses taught in French by Eduard Paréjas of the University of Geneva at the Geology Institute as an interpreter-assistant. For the first time, she wrote an article called "Erzincan Zelzelesinin Meteorolojisi" [i.e. Meteorology of the 1939 Erzincan Earthquake] together with Marcel Fouché, the President of the General Physics Institute, who was an expert in the field of sudden meteorological events.

She, who also carries out paleontological studies, found three new Echinidae species native to Anatolia.

Pinar was a member of the Democrat Party of Turkey, also she was a deputy of Izmir between 1954-1960.
