MARIA FEODOROVNA, (1847-1928)., Late 1890's.

Original sepia-toned CDV showing Maria Feodorovna and her children, princes Nikolay Aleksandr Aleksandroviç Georgiy II, Aleksandroviç Kseniya Aleksandrovna Mihail, Aleksandroviç Olga Aleksandrovna and their dog. 16,5x11 cm. Descriptive note in Ottoman script on verso as "[i.e. Maria Feodorovna; family of the heir apparent]". Foxing and stains on photographic area and extremities, otherwise a good CDV. 

Maria Feodorovna (Mariya Fyodorovna), known before her marriage as Princess Dagmar of Denmark, was a Danish princess who became Empress of Russia as the spouse of Emperor Alexander III. Her eldest son became the last Russian monarch, Emperor Nicholas II of Russia - she lived for 10 years after Bolshevik functionaries killed him and his immediate family in 1918.
