[ITALY / COLONIES / THE DODECANESE] Three large gelatin silver photographs of Italian Rhodes showing the parade on the birthday of the Italian king

Each photo: 23,5x17 cm. One photo has the photographer's stamp on the verso. A slight tear on the left corner of only one photograph, otherwise a good print. Captions on two photos in Turkish read: i.e. "Parade for the birthday of the King of Italy, 11.11.1928". Ottoman, Italian and Greek civilians and soldiers in two photos during the parade, and Ottoman muftu (clergyman in Rhodes Island) with Ottoman soldiers, managers, and Giovanni Battista Ameglio who was an Italian general, the governor of Cyrenaica between (1913-1918), and in 1915, while still at the office, has been assigned with the governorship of Tripolitania, with other Italian and Turkish high-ranking soldiers. 

Original early three gelatin silver photographs showing the parade on the birthday of the Italian king in 1928 in Rhodes Island, documenting Italian colonists were settled in Rhodes, the center of the Dodecanese Islands of the Archipelago in the late 1920s by the Fascist Italian government of Benito Mussolini, Italy has been in occupation of the Islands since the Italian-Turkish War of 1911.

Arturo Faccioli was an Italian photographer. He was known for his depictions of the bygone image of the Dodecanese landscape in 1912, -most likely, a military man following the occupational forces, as it is inferred by certain shots- would immortalize landscapes and monuments, through panoramic or general aspects, in his rich and impressive photographic material, laying special emphasis on those in Rhodes dating back to the period of Saint John's Templar Knights. Arturo Faccioli was known for his depictions of the bygone image of the Dodecanese landscape in 1912.
