A very rare special issue on the plague from one of the longest-running medical journals among Ottoman Turkish periodicals. The issue offers detailed coverage of the general history of the plague, its history within the Ottoman Empire, and contemporary approaches to its treatment.

The journal was first published in 1872 and changed its name to Askeri Tip Mecmuasi (Military Medical Journal) in 1928. It subsequently underwent two further name changes while maintaining an institutional and intellectual continuity until 2017, when it ultimately ceased publication under the title Gülhane Askerî Tip Dergisi (Gülhane Military Medical Journal).
