Rare soil-scape map showing the soil types of Azerbaijan SSR surrounded by Soviet Georgia on the northwest, Soviet Armenia on the west, Daghestan on the north, and Iran on the south. This is a very detailed and attractive Soviet map of the landscape of Azerbaijan including a very detailed index in Azerbaijani in Cyrillic, with important cities of Azerbaijan like Baku.

Four cartographers drawn this map are professors of geodesy and cartography. Cartographer Museibov is the author of the book titled "Physical geography of Azerbaijan" in Azerbaijani and Russian as well.

The institution, which continued until the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1939 under the name of "Glavnoe Upravlenie Geodezii i Kartographie" [i.e. The Chief Administration of Geodesy and Cartography Under the Council of Ministers of the USSR], was founded in 1919 and its first name was "Vyssheye Geodezicheskoe Upravlenie" [i.e. The Supreme Geodetic Administration].
