First edition of this exceedingly rare Turkish “illustrated atlas” printed in Vienna, including 28 chromolithographed maps and photographs. This is a classical atlas which published after the proclamation of the Turkish Republic.
Selen entered the Geography Institute, which had just been established in 1916. After working as an assistant at this institute for four years, he went to Vienna in 1920 and continued at the geography branch of the University of Vienna until 1923. There, he prepared a doctoral thesis under the name "Turkishness in Anatolia according to Historical Documents" and took the doctoral exam and received the title of “Dr”. After returning to Turkey, he worked as a geography teacher at Istanbul Darülfünûn, Higher Commerce School, Galatasaray, and Darüssafaka High Schools between 1924 and 1933.
