Original manuscript historical law document. Stamped. 8vo. In Ottoman script. 1 p. Sent to "Üsküdar Mahkeme-i Asliyesi Hukuk Dairesi Cenâb-i Alîlerine". It states that "Mihr-i Muaccel" of Fatma Zehra Hanim, was not given to her in the required time by her husband Bayram Agha who was a butcher. Written and signed by Fatma Zehra Hanim. In Islamic tradition, a Mahr, (also transliterated mehr, meher, mehrieh or mahriyeh) is the obligation, in the form of money or possessions paid by the groom, to the bride at the time of Islamic marriage (payment also has circumstances on when and how to pay). While the mahr is often money, it can also be anything agreed upon by the bride such as jewelry, home goods, a camel, furniture, a dwelling, or some land.
