This atlas was published by the Matbaa-i Amire [i.e. Government Publishing House], a press that was the successor of Ibrahim Müteferrika's workshop. Almost every map has descriptive text (except for five) and is dated between 1892 to 1896. This atlas includes seven rare and attractive America maps (Amerika-yi Simâlî [i.e. North America], Amerika-yi Cenûbî [i.e. South America], Pasifik [i.e. the Pacific Ocean with North and South America], Kanada [i.e. Canada and North America], Cemahîr-i Müttefika-yi Amerika [i.e. United States of America], Meksika ve Antiller [i.e. Mexico and the Caribbean Sea], and Antil Adalari [i.e. the Antilles]). In addition, the atlas starts with a fine color world map. Then the Southern and Northern Hemispheres were depicted as well as with separate maps of Europe, Australia, Asia, Russia, Scandinavia, Africa (South with Madagascar, North, and West), Japan and Korea, Arabian Peninsula, etc which are very detailed.

The cartographer, Ali Seref, or Hafiz Ali Seref (or Esref) Pasha (1840-1907) was an Ottoman soldier and mapmaker who was schooled in Paris as a cartographer around 1862. While in Paris he published his first atlas with 22 maps, called the Yeni atlas. Upon his return to Istanbul, he became the chief cartographer at the Matbaa-i Amire Printing Press in Beyazit.
