Boyaciyan Agop Matbaasi, Ist., 1908.
Second Edition of this very attractive folio atlas, which has richly colored maps and engravings, printed by the American Missionary Board Printing House in Ottoman Turkey.
The publishing house of the American Missionary Company, which was active in the Ottoman and Turkish lands since the early westernization period in the Ottoman Empire, 1820s to the 1970s, published this atlas in the late 19th century, to be taught in geography classes in missionary schools in Constantinople (Istanbul) and Anatolia.
This handsome folio atlas was printed in 1908 a second time by famous Armenian typographer Arshag Hagop Boyajian (1837-1914) who was an Ottoman Armenian printer and a leader of the Armenian Protestant community in the Ottoman Empire. He was born in Diyarbakir and educated at Robert College in Istanbul. During the Crimean War (1853-1856) he served as a translator at the headquarters of the British army in Scutari (Üsküdar), on Istanbul's Asian shore. After a short stay in the United States to perfect his knowledge of modern printing techniques, he established a publishing house in Pera (Beyoglu) in Istanbul. (Source: Brill).
