"Manasik" is the whole of rites and ceremonies that have to be performed by Islamic pilgrims in and around Mecca. The Qur'an differentiates between two manasiks: The Manasik of Hajj, which has to be done in the month Dhu al-Hijjah, and The Manasik of 'Umra, which can be performed any time of the year. The knowledge of manasik is an independent part of Fiqh [i.e. Islamic law].
This 'Manasik' book includes a detailed index in the first two pages and all rites and ceremonies that have to be performed by Islamic pilgrims in Umra and Mecca in its first chapter pp. 1-71. This chapter includes the plate titled 'Resim-i Beytü'l-Haram Zarullahu Serefe' [i.e. Bayt al-Haram and Kabah]. The second chapter includes Medina al-Mukarrama with an early folded lithographed plate of Medina. Marginal notes are in Arabic on almost every two pages, and the text is in a traditional frame. Sheikh Hafiz Mehmed [Muhammad] Murad el-Naqshbandi, (1788-1848), was an Ottoman/Turkish Naqshbandi sheikh and scholar, mathnawîkhan [i.e. Reader, and preacher of mathnawi], and a mathnawi sharikh [i.e. A person who annotated the mathnawis]. He is one of the important Naqshbandi sheiks representing the Naqshbandi-Mevlevi convergence in the 19th century and one of the famous figures of the period. He wrote a history book [Vekâyinâme] that describes the opening ceremony of the mesnevîhane he built in 1845 in Constantinople named Murad Molla Tekke as well as various events that took place in Istanbul during that year, such as the fire in Galata, religious ceremonies held on blessed days and nights, the wedding ceremony of Âdile Sultan, the daughter of Sultan Mahmud II, and the dismissal, appointment, and death of some civil servants.
